*Warning spoilers ahead*
RuPaul has been named as one of Time’s 100 Influential People and it’s not surprising. He’s killing it with the new series of Drag Race reaching over 1 million viewers with the first episode on VH1. It started explosively and if you’ve been keeping up with my blog (and you should be!) you’ll know I’m not overly fond of this season, but it’s getting there. Episode 5 has picked up… only slightly.
Finally, we have a mini challenge – a sexy selfie with the pit crew. It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it… and surprisingly Alexis Michelle came out on top. Main challenge this week was to star in Kardashian: The Musical… erm…great! Honestly, I’m not like stereotypical gay guys who love them. I don’t get it. I’d rather gouge my eyes out with a blunt spoon than watch those talentless fat assed whores.
Anyway, the queens took to it, except Nina who had major issues with not being cast as Blac Chyna (no, I have no clue who either) and throughout the episode had a face like a slapped arse. The Kardashian musical involved lip syncing to a “comedy” style track and performing for the judges. I’m not going into detail about the musical – It didn’t interest me due to reasons already stated. I thought Alexis did the best and Cynthia the worst as her lip syncing was pathetic.
Guest judges this week included the wonderful Todrik Hall and Meghan Trainor – in a onesie. A onesie people! She might as well have showed up on the runway wearing pants.
Runway category is… faux fur. Some great looks from all, though Alexis was quite simple.
Shea Coulee came out on top in the main challenge with Farrah Moan and Cynthia in the bottom two. Again, Cynthia’s lip syncing skills weren’t great yet the surprise came when RuPaul called Eureka to the stage, who prior to this episode didn’t have crutches but gained them due to an injury sustained in the cheerleading challenge in episode 2. For a second I thought there was going to be another Willam style moment, but apparently, doctors have ordered Eureka to rest, forcing Ru to ask her to leave the competition though she is leaving with a pass to return in season 10.
What a big (and I use that word loosely) surprise to discover Eureka has had to leave – I expected her to do quite well in the competition after serving plenty of sharp tongued one liners and after doing well in the challenges. Must be the earliest a queen has been announced for a season!
Not a bad episode in all despite the Kardashian content (should that be with a K too?) I’m happy to see the return of the mini challenge but sad to see Eureka go in such a way. Next week should be good, it’s Snatch Game… Let’s see which of these season 9 queens has the tightest snatch.
